One Means All: Union Omaha Retires Jersey No. 1 in Tribute to Greater Omaha
Union Omaha, Nebraska’s only professional soccer team, leads by example. From taking the initiative to increase women’s involvement in sports, to cutting costs for nonprofits and encouraging volunteer work, the Union Omaha Owls consistently showcase their dedication to Greater Omaha through their acts of service.
As the eleventh club to play in League One (est. 2019) and winner of the 2021 USL League One Championship, Union Omaha attributes much of its achievements to the Greater Omaha community.
“The community is necessary to our success. We want to be a place where everyone is welcomed. In 2021, the club adopted the motto “One Means All,” meant to symbolize that everyone from the community is a valued member Union Omaha.”
The team plays their matches at Werner Park in Sarpy County and is managed by Alliance Omaha, which also manages the Omaha Storm Chasers minor league baseball team. The club is led by President Martie Cordaro and General Manager Peter Marlette in the front office, and Head Coach Dominic Casciato on the field.
Alongside Union’s leadership on the field and in the office, a group of esteemed local investors, including notable figures from various local businesses, stand as pillars of support, reflecting theclub’s strong ties to the Omaha business community.
Since 2019, Union Omaha has provided the Greater Omaha Community with an opportunity to enjoy soccer at a high level, providing an unforgettable experience for fans of all ages. Their commitment to inclusivity, community engagement, and excellence on the field make them a standout choice for Small Business of the Month.
Valuable Insights from our Winner
On the value of Chamber membership: We have been able to connect with the community and local businesses in ways that would not be possible without the GOC. You never know who you can meet at GOC events, but showing up and being a nice, hardworking professional has left a lasting effect on important contacts.
Customer Service: As stated before, our motto is “OMA: One Means All.” We are and will continue to work towards being a place where everyone is accepted, and understands that community is very important to us. Building good relationships with customers is necessary for success in business. That is one reason why you will see all employees volunteering to help our community.
Culture: Community can mean a lot of things. Though having community with a large number of people is important, so is having a small community. We want to support each other to be successful and move up in the company. Also, we understand that work is not the only thing going on in each other’s lives, we show up for each other outside of work when needed.
