What was once three is now more than 500.

Construction software company Buildertrend recently hit a huge milestone – officially passing the 500 mark in number of employees with 55 percent year-over-year workforce growth. That impressive feat is made all the more so considering it started with three best friends in an Omaha basement.

Founders and co-CEOs Dan Houghton, Jeff Dugger and Steve Dugger have kept the company in Omaha ever since its founding in 2006. For Buildertrend, the Heartland is home – and they intend to keep it that way.

Even with significant growth, Buildertrend houses all of its operations – from sales and engineering to marketing and accounting – in one building just miles away from the basement where it all started.

It’s all about keeping top talent in the Cornhusker state and being an active supporter for the growth of up-and-coming professionals.

One way they do this is by sponsoring the Greater Omaha Chamber’s YP Summit. This annual conference energizes young professionals to expand their network, collaborate and engage in thought-provoking breakout sessions.

Buildertrend’s leaders believe Omaha is a great place to not only keep, but also attract talent. Joining other organizations to sponsor the largest young professionals conference in the country—with more than 1,500 attendees—is Buildertrend’s way of championing this effort.

The Buildertrend Rising Star Award is presented at the YP Summit. This is a new honor for 2020 that recognizes a phenomenal young leader in Omaha.

This first recipient of the Buildertrend Rising Star Award is Ina Bhoopalam. She’s a social entrepreneur who serves as the founder and executive director of DREAM EQUAL, a nonprofit that confronts and combats gender-based issues. She’s also co-founder and deputy executive director of One Up Action, a platform for marginalized youth and adults to learn how to combat climate crisis.

Buildertrend is thriving right here, right now in the metro. The game-changing tech company was recently named the No. 1 Best Place to Work in Omaha – again. 2020 was the second consecutive year that Buildertrend topped the list compiled by Baird Holm LLP and program sponsor the Greater Omaha Chamber for companies with more than 200 employees.

Buildertrend is cutting-edge tech that’s making Nebraska a cut above the rest when it comes to innovation. And smarter than smart software like this isn’t just good for business at Buildertrend. It’s good for business Omaha-wide.
