After what’s happened to our community over the last few days, it’s never easy to express everything you’ve seen or felt.
The severe weather and tornadoes that ripped through our region left immense physical and emotional damage to neighbors, friends, family, and chamber members.
As we’ve been coming to grips with how this storm damage happened so quickly, we’ve also been grateful for the strong leadership from Governor Pillen, Douglas County Emergency Management, Mayor Stothert, the City of Omaha, and all the federal, state, and local elected and appointed officials who have been sharing information with constituents and chamber members about everything from emergency assistance and federal disaster declarations to temporary housing and volunteer clean-ups.
Their teamwork, focus, and transparency has provided our community with important information as well as some of the immediate next steps relating to future recovery.

You can also utilize the United Way of the Midlands 2-1-1 service, which will connect you to the immediate services needed during this crisis.
Many members have asked how they can help support those affected by the tornado damage.
The quickest way you can engage is by making a gift to either the United Way of the Midlands, Omaha Community Foundation, or the Salvation Army “Tornado Recovery Funds.” All monetary donations will be used exclusively to assist with providing immediate assistance to those displaced by the storms and for long-term recovery efforts throughout the region.
With the role the Greater Omaha Chamber plays in our community, we are committed to keeping you updated on the recovery efforts and we pledge to assist not only our members but our entire region in moving forward from this tragic experience.
