YPs are changing the face of Omaha

As millennials take over as the largest generation, they’re also taking up residence in some of our historic communities. Midtown, the Blackstone District and Benson—just to name a few—have undergone massive renovations in recent years, as a generation that values connectivity and innovation redefines urban living.

And it’s not just a physical transformation—young professionals are leading a revitalization of Omaha’s culture through initiatives like Do Space, Omaha Gives, Omaha Summer Arts Festival and Film Streams. The change is unmistakable here at the Greater Omaha Chamber through new programs, including The Startup Collaborative and CreativeMornings.

One of the biggest events of the year, the YP Summit, happened on March 9, bringing together the community’s best and brightest millennials. The event was headlined by Ari Shapiro, host of NPR’s “All Things Considered.” Other noteworthy sessions included a mayoral forum plus state of the city, a panel on ethical decision-making, and conversations about two new community revitalization projects: the CAPITOL district and 10th Street Market.
